Himalayan All Natural Dog Chew

Himalayan Dog Chew

I’ve had & been surrounded by very large dogs my entire life, mainly pitbulls, who are known for their powerful jaws and chewing power. Mia was my first ‘small dog’ – although I didn’t know how big or small she was going to be when I found her. But I kid you not when I say my 32 pound Mia can out-chew any other dog no matter what size or breed they are. I can give Marley (an 80+ pound blue nosed brindle pitbull) and Mia the same exact bully stick or bone and 9 times out of 10 Mia finishes first. So I’ve been on what seems to be a never ending quest to find a healthy, long lasting, natural dog treat and haven’t had much success. I refuse to buy any bones/chews that are manufactured in China due to the constant recalls of food, treats and bones from the region that have been shown to cause illness and unfortunately death in some dogs. I look at Chinese dog food/treats the same way I look at GMO’s (genetically modified crops) – they’re just bad and something I intend to keep my Mia and myself far away from.

So naturally I’ve tried everything – rawhide, bully sticks, Pedigree Jumbones, Purina Busy Bones, Nylabone Healthy Edibles bones and everything in between. The braided bully sticks are what lasted the longest. That is until last night when I wandered into Petsmart and noticed they started carrying this Himalayan Dog Chew – I had seen them before but the higher than normal price point turned me off. But last night I figured what the hell and shelled out the $15 or so for the treat. Today I went back to Petsmart and bought 6 more.

Himalayan Dog Chew Ingredients

This chew truly is long lasting and Mia clearly loves the thing – and I love it because it has 3 ingredients, all of which I can pronounce and I know what the hell it is – unlike many other dog treats and chews. It contains yak and cow milk, salt and lime juice. The ingredients seems overly simplistic – but it works and lasts a long time. It ultimately lasted about 2 hours and 15 minutes – 1 1/5 to 2 times longer than the next closest chew (a large braided bully stick). Needless to say, I think I’ve found the best dog chew on the market and it is the Himalayan All Natural Dog Chew. Every dog owner, regardless of size, should be stocked up on these chews. They have the chews available for any sized dog, so there’s no excuse for you to not get it. It actually is cost effective (when looking at time it takes to complete the chew vs dollar amount), great for your dog and it keeps them entertained for quite a long time and definitely tires them out a bit. Displaying Posts To Specific Pages In WordPress

So a few years ago when I ventured into the world of website development and creating, specifically utilizing the WordPress platform, I was extremely confused. I’m extremely smart when it comes electronics and know all the new products that are coming out – but HTML, PHP, CSS and all the other computer talk was like looking at Chinese for me. I was completely lost. But there was one thing that I needed, that no one seemed to address…and that was having a website with multiple pages that would all be updated dozens of times a week, maybe more and having my posts go specifically to those pages.

After about 40 hours of searching Google, WordPress archives, Youtube and God knows what else I still came up empty handed. I was completely baffled that what I thought was common sense, seemed like it was impossible! And here I was hearing all of these great things about the WordPress platform yet I couldn’t even make my posts go to the correct page? Complete fail. Maybe it was my stubbornness, maybe it was my disbelief that something “so awesome” couldn’t do something so simple – or maybe a combination of the two – but one night, after a bottle of wine, I figured out the secret completely by accident. The next morning I woke up knowing I had done something incredible the night before but couldn’t remember how to do it. Luckily for me I still had it up and saw what I had done. I about crapped my pants I was so excited.

So I had figured it out! The almighty elusive secret! I must have watched 500-750 Youtube videos and tutorials on WordPress titled “displaying posts to specific pages in WordPress” and they were all the same damn thing, more importantly, the WRONG thing. So I immediately purchased Camtasia Studio, which allows you to record what you’re doing on the screen and narrate it – which is what most people who make WordPress tutorials use. I made my simple 3 minute video and uploaded it to Youtube and BOOM, instant hit. Now it doesn’t have a trillion views like all the other Youtube WordPress tutorial videos do, but mine is CORRECT and theirs is not. I’ve had dozens of people e-mail me thanking me for that video, that they had been in the exact same situation as me, scouring the internet for the right way to display posts to specific pages in WordPress.

So without further a due, here is the correct way to display posts to specific pages in WordPress!

Hydro Vapor Stones Review

Hydro Vapor Stones package

What the Hydro Vapor Stones look like

Ok so a few days ago I decided to give these “smoke-able stones” a try. Ever since they came out I’ve been wanting to try them out so I finally gave in. They retail for around $15 a jar, so they can be pretty pricey, but if you want a tobaccoless shisha, then obviously the cost isn’t bad. These are stones that are injected with, and soaked in, the flavor and molasses that tobacco based shisha consists of. Hydro Vapor Stones are made by the same people who make the “Hydro Herbal” line of tobacco free shisha (which I completely hated.) So needless to say I was anxious to try it out. The following is my raw hydro vapor stones review.

Before we get started

  • This does NOT produce smoke; it’s vapor. Similar to how e-cigarettes work.

  • You MUST use either a vortex bowl or a phunnel bowl.

  • You MUST have a wind cover.

  • Natural charcoal is almost a must. I recommend using Coco Nara coals (which is what I always use) because quick lights alter the taste too much from all the chemicals involved in its production.
Packing your vortex bowl with Hydro Vapor Stones

Now the reason it’s necessary to use a vortex or phunnel bowl is because using a normal bowl, with the holes at the bottom, will simply just let the molasses drain down into the base of the hookah, rendering the Hydro Vapor Stones completely useless because there will be nothing for the coals to evaporate.

Packing the bowl

Pack is just as you would any other bowl, filling it but leaving room so that the foil won’t come in contact with the stones or molasses while you’re smoking

Proper placement of your coals

Smoking

Ok here’s the tricky part (and why having a wind cover is essential.) I use 3 strategically placed Coco Nara’s no matter what I’m smoking. When smoking tobacco based shisha after a few hits of the hookah it gets going. Well that’s not the case of the Hydro Vapor Stones. For about 5 minutes I puffed and puffed and puffed and got damn near nothing. This is where the wind cover comes in; after putting the wind cover on (which traps more heat in, allowing the molasses to evaporate creating “smoke”) it only took another few minutes to get started. So I’d say if I put the wind cover on from the get go, it would’ve taken about 5 minutes to get started, which can potentially be a downfall. However, once it got started, it REALLY got started. I pulled more vapor

Put your wind cover on
(since it isn’t smoke) than I do smoke with traditional tobacco, but it’s absolutely NO SUBSTITUTE for traditional shisha. The taste was ok. Much better than I expected, so I’ve got to give them that. I’d give the taste a 5 out of 10.

Aftermath

I think I could’ve easily put 3 more Coco Nara’s on it after the initial ones died out and gone another hour with no problem. But after the initial trio of coals went out, I was done and opted to not throw more on. But I was pleasantly surprised. Will I buy them again? Probably not. But that’s not because it wasn’t good, I just prefer real tobacco shisha. It’s a great product for people who DON’T want to smoke tobacco, but still like the idea of sitting around a table with friends and smoking hookah.

Compare the fresh Hydro Vapor Stones above and the stones after they've been smoked
It’s a great alternative to tobacco, but it’s NOT a replacement for it. But I say everyone should try it. Never know how much you like it without trying it first. I think once they start making more exotic flavors (since they only have basic flavors like strawberry, double apple, orange, etc) it will catch on more.
